Why Cub Scouts

It's all right there on the trail sign

Our pack's tagline points four ways. Here's what each one looks like for a kid.

Explore

Hikes and campouts, off the screens and with you.

Learn

Hands-on adventures at every rank, from building things to cooking over a fire.

Grow

Kids build real confidence, and you'll hear a lot more “I did it myself.”

Belong

A den of kids their own age, where friendships grow fast, and other local families who get to know yours.

A year in Pack 3054

Plenty to look forward to

Most of the year happens at den meetings. Around them, the whole pack gets together for days like these.

September

Kickoff

The year starts with our first pack meeting, then the Hathaway's Drive-In Camporee.

October

Harvest Festival campout

A weekend of family camping at Camp Wakpominee during Twin Rivers Council's Harvest Festival.

November

Rockets over Rotary

Two outdoor days back to back: the pack fall hike, then Rockets over Rotary.

December

Holiday meeting

A holiday pack meeting, and we're planning a holiday visit to a nursing home.

March

Pinewood Derby

Cubs build small wooden race cars and race them down the track.

March

Blue & Gold Banquet

Our big celebration of the year, and the night our Arrow of Light Scouts cross over.

April

Pack campout

A spring weekend of camping with the whole pack.

June

End-of-year picnic

We close out the year with a picnic at the South Schenectady Fire Department.

Monday nights at Jefferson

Den meetings and pack meetings

Both run from 6:15 to 8 PM in the Jefferson Elementary cafeteria. The calendar shows which Monday is which.

Den meeting

Your Scout meets with their den, a small group of kids in the same grade, and their den leader. This is where they work on the adventures toward their rank.

Pack meeting

About once a month the whole pack gets together to celebrate what Scouts have earned. Bring the whole family.

Lions and Tigers come with an adult partner, and only to the den meetings marked “Lions & Tigers” on the calendar. Every other den meets on all the regular den meeting nights.

100% TRAINED

Led by trained volunteers

A 100% Trained Unit

In September 2026, Twin Rivers Council named Pack 3054 a 100% Trained Unit, meaning every leader registered with the pack had finished the training for their role. We're chartered by the Jefferson Elementary Parent Teacher Organization.

After Arrow of Light

Same trails, brighter futures

In 5th grade, Arrow of Light Scouts cross a bridge into Scouts BSA, where the Scouts plan the campouts and run the meetings themselves. Our sister troop, Troop 3054, is chartered by the same PTO and meets at Jefferson on Monday nights too.

At the council's Harvest Festival in October 2026, Troop 3054 Scouts taught at almost every station, so Cubs got to learn from the kids they'll be in a few years.
